“There’s nowhere you can hide, Spartan.
Put as much distance between you and the truth as you want, it changes nothing.
Pretend to be everything you are not:
But there is one unavoidable truth you will never escape: You cannot change.
You will always be a monster.”
“I know. But I am your monster no longer.”
This moment made me shiver. God of War 4 has easily some of the most hard-hitting moments in a game that I have played in a long time. And with his outstanding character development across the series, specifically in the most recent game, he stands to be one of my favourite heroes/anti-heroes of all time. Because he has changed. And while he recognizes that he cannot alter himself fully, the change from mindless killing machine to a father is so beautifully shown, especially within the exchange between him and Athena.
